F & Q

How old are you?
44 for now

How many kids do you have?
8 for now

How long have you been married?
Long enough to know not to throw a fit over his nightly balled-up socks and dirty boots on the bathroom floor. (24 years)

What are some hobbies you enjoy?
Gardening, tasting, reading, playing games (especially winning!), talking...

What are some of your favorite books?
Anything written by James Herriot or C.S. Lewis, Cold Sassy Tree, The Mark of the Lion series, A Garden in the City, Going to Sleep on the Farm, When You Rise Up, Ferdinand

Guilty pleasures?
Katie accidently subscribed to the wrong magazine for me (thoughtful girl) and got me Rolling Stone instead of Entertainment Weekly.  Either would've been a guilty pleasure since they both eschew attitudes and morals I don't agree with, but Rolling Stone is definitely worse.  Still don't agree with alot of ideas in it, and I skip some articles, but it intrigues me, it's well written, and I feel I've kept up with pop culture after I read it.  From cover to cover.  In one sitting.  Guilty.

What inspires you to write?
Reading good writing. And poor writing I think I can improve upon. Also, conversations I have in my head. With myself.

What is some of your favorite music?
Sting, Billy Joel, Lyle Lovett, James Taylor, Wayne Watson, old Twila Paris, Some electro swing, Paul Simon, Keith Green and Rich Mullins, Harry Connick Jr., and  most classical music.

What is your favorite color?
Green. And Pink. Yeah. Green and Pink. Feels like a garden...

Personal viewing preferences?
Select, premium animations (whatever Kenny tells me to watch), British Dramas, Comedies, Seinfeld including Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, select stand-up comedy (oh Brian Regan, Tim Hawkins, and Jim Gaffigan make me laugh), Independent films (aka Wes Anderson and the like)

What bothers you?
Facebook. In general. That's why I don't have one. Uh...my husband's sweat-drenched shirts hanging on the backs of my garden chairs. Broken soap, henna bars, chicken predators, empty grape stems on the dining room floor, the Starbucks company (not their coffee. I like that.), and shirtless males in jeans.

Favorite accessory?
My wedding ring because it's sparkly, my much loved husband gave it to me,  and to discourage the many unsolicited advances by gentlemen admirers.

Things you love?
Bird houses, home-brewed coffee, pretty fabrics, Children's literature, sales on ham, mice, crispy bacon, The Bonnie Highland's fragrance, candles, silver cochins, tree frogs on the window and toads in the garden, L.L. Bean, Mrs. Meyers Clean Day products, Mary Janes, birthday party decor, and a fresh coat of paint.
